Student Bursaries

Sensory and consumer science constantly evolving, and it is the students attending who will help shape the future of our field. To support our future sensory scientists, the 2025 Program will highlight students and ECRs. The 2025 Pangborn Chairs are pleased to announce the availability of bursaries for students to support attendance and travel to Philadelphia to share and present their work.
Bursary recipients will be selected by the chairs and the organizing committee based on the quality of science of the abstract and the relevance of the abstract to the conference. Elsevier will provide financial support to help offset the cost of attending. The committee plans to fund local, national, and international students, including those from underrepresented communities. The exact amount will depend on the location of the student’s institution.
To be eligible for a student bursary award, you must be:
- An undergraduate or graduate student (Master or PhD) enrolled in an academic institution at the start of the meeting.
- The presenting author of a submitted abstract (only authors with an accepted abstract will be considered for a bursary)
To apply for a bursary, you must enter the following information during abstract submission:
- Country, academic institution, and expected graduation date
- Describe in max. 300 words how your research contributes to move the field of Sensory & Consumer Science forward.
- A document confirming your status as a student. Student eligibility is based on current registration in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- This is a competitive application process based on the panel’s assessment of the contribution of the abstract to the conference, and the value of attending the conference to the applicant.
Consideration will be given to diversity in regard to institutions and countries of origin.
The award is a financial contribution (one single payment) to be used to support travel, registration, Pangborn events and accommodation.
All awardees should be prepared for any additional costs of attendance at the meeting beyond the award. The awardee accepts responsibility for such costs.
