Student Bursaries
Deadline for application: 22 January 2027
Sensory and Consumer Science is constantly evolving, and the students attending Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium 2027 will help shape the future of the field. To support the next generation of sensory scientists, the 2027 Program Chairs are pleased to announce the availability of student bursaries to support attendance and travel to Merida (Mexico) for presenting and sharing their work.
Bursary recipients will be selected by the Chairs and the organizing committee based on the scientific quality of the submitted abstract and its relevance to the conference. Elsevier will provide financial support to help offset the costs of attendance. The committee aims to support students and Early Career Researchers (ECR) from local, national, and international institutions, including those from underrepresented communities. The exact amount allocated will depend on the location of the student’s institution.
To be eligible for a student bursary, applicants must be:
- Undergraduate or graduate student (Master’s or PhD) enrolled at an academic institution at the start of the meeting.
- Presenting author of a submitted abstract. Only authors of accepted abstracts will be considered for a bursary.
To apply for a bursary, applicants must provide the following information during abstract submission:
- Country, academic institution, and expected graduation date.
- A statement of up to 300 words describing how their research contributes to advancing the field of Sensory and Consumer Science.
- Documentation confirming current student status. Eligibility is based on active enrolment in an undergraduate or graduate program.
- Any additional information requested as part of the evaluation process.
Consideration will also be given to diversity across institutions and countries of origin.
The bursary is intended as a financial contribution to support travel, registration, Pangborn events, and accommodation costs. Applicants should be prepared to cover any additional expenses beyond the amount awarded and will be responsible for such costs.
The deadline for bursary applications is 22 January 2027.
