- Olivier Wathelet, Users Matter, Belgium

Dr Olivier Wathelet is an anthropologist who trained in Belgium (ULB), Canada (University of Montreal) and France (Université Côte d'Azur). He has been working in the field of innovation and foresight for over 15 years. He currently heads Users Matter (Belgium, UK, France), an R&D agency dedicated to user-centred approaches combining social sciences, design and illustration, and co-leads the Making Tomorrow collective (France, Belgium), which since 2016 has been combining foresight and design to imagine desirable and unique futures. He has written several articles and books on these subjects, which he also teaches at ENSAV La Cambre, an art school based in Brussels. Since completing his PhD in the anthropology of smells and having worked in the culinary world (in R&D at Groupe Seb and at the Institut Paul Bocuse) Olivier has always maintained a close connection with food and sensory perception in his projects.
